Voice Overs for Telephone

Voice Overs for Telephone

Professional Voice Overs can be used on the telephone in three ways:

  • On-Hold Messages
  • IVR and Autoattendant Prompts.
  • Voice Mail and Answering Messages.
On-Hold Messages

The time when a caller is on-hold or being transferred is valuable. It can be used as an opportunity to tell the caller about the business, its history and quality awards. In this way, on-hold messages can be effective to enhance business reputation, prevent caller hangups and increase sales. For more information about on-hold messages, please see: Guide to On-Hold Messages.

IVR and Autoattendant Prompts

Interactive Voice Response (IVR) is an effective way to automate your telephone calls and save on staffing costs. There are two key elements to a good IVR programme:

  • Planning
  • Professional Voices
Planning: Take care to ensure that your IVR programme is well planned. Before putting an IVR programme in place, survey your telephone calls to understand what most callers want. Design your IVR programme considering the needs of your callers (not the needs of your business).

Professional Voices: Using professional voices you ensure that your business image is professional and that callers can clearly understand the messages. The World-Voices Voice Over Index is the useful resource to locate and retain voice overs online. Before retaining a voice over artist, check what audio file format your IVR uses (ask your telephone supplier). For more information about retaining voice over artists please see: The Guide for Using the International Voice Over Index.

Voice mail and Answering Messages

Use voice overs to maintain a professional image. The NCH Voice Over Index is the useful resource to locate and retain voice overs online. Before retaining a voice over artist, check what audio file format your IVR uses (ask your telephone supplier). For more information about retaining voice over artists please see: World-Voices International Voice Over Index.

Autoattendant and Voice Mail Software

The IVM Answering Attendant is an ideal voice mail solution for small to medium answering and voice mail solutions. The software can be downloaded free. It works as an answering machine free. To use the autoattendant menu feature requires registration after 30 days. You need a Windows 95, 98 or 2000 computer and a voice modem or other telephony device to run the software.

The IVM easily incorporates World-Voices Voice prompts recorded as wav files (8kHz, 16 bit mono).
